Overview:

This was my first attempt at a game within the Godot game engine. I tried multiple different approaches to gameplay, initially thinking this could be a standard platformer, but with rocket jumping mechanics. This current version was an iteration where I was trying to make a foddian game with these same mechanics and was trying to make the controls slightly obtuse, but still fun. This was a good prototype to learn the Godot engine, but ultimately I decided that it was not worth continuing development on this project as the gameplay was too hard and didn't seem very fun in 2D.

Note: the game is pretty buggy, but I wanted to showcase my first attempt at a game in Godot to show how far I have come since then

Goal:

The goal is to reach the end of each level which is denoted by the chain and floating barrel. For the prototype I just used free assets I already had, so made do with what I had.

Controls:

This game is meant to be played with a controller

  • Left Stick: controls movement
  • Right Stick: controls aim
  • A: Jump
  • RB/R1: shoots rocket that explodes on impact
  • LB/L1: shoots grenade that is then triggered by clicking LT/L2 again
  • Select: level select menu
